Ocean to Andes high performance in Ecuador – 3 to 9 days

From the humidity and heat of the coast, to a hot and very sunny beach of more than 90°F, running up into the cloud forest towards the cold Sierra. There will be a significant accumulated slope with heights ranging from sea level to 3700 m. 3 to 9 days of amazing adventure…

Ocean to Andes Extreme running tour needs trail running experience of an intermediate level because it is designed as a high training tour.

General indications:

A seasoned runner will be able to complete each day’s run of any of the tours. The routes are designed to be adapted for any runner’s pace and desired distance.

The cost of each route includes transfer to and from the airport, daily road transportation related to group activities, reservations and accommodations in hotels and lodges, meals, running routes along with guides, travel area maps, communication devices, water, first aid gear and vehicle support. The longest trip will take four hours at the most.

It does not include airplane tickets or alternative transportation not considered in the tour. Spa and alcoholic beverages are not included.

Groups are relatively small, generally between 6 and 12 participants.

There is a possibility that the routes may be modified, regarding distances and variations in altimetry.

As always, the safety of runners and guests is a priority for the organization. We have explored the most scenic, diverse and safe trails for you to enjoy them.

We ask runners to take care of the environment. We all enjoy nature, the mountains, lakes, landscapes, and we suffer when we see garbage there. Keep your trash in your backpacks or hydration belts until you get to the hotel. Let’s consume rationally, reuse and recycle. Let’s avoid polluting products such as plastic bags and bottles.

Description of the Route:

Day 1 – Guayaquil

Fly into Guayaquil and transfer to hotel, open afternoon to visit the city’s main attractions.

Day 2 – Ayampe

Early start to short run by the Guayas river, breakfast and shower at hotel. Departure to Ancon, fun run to Mar Bravo, beach enjoyment and box lunch. Travel to Ayampe, visit Montanita, open afternoon and early dinner.

Day 3 – Ayampe

Early start to run Canta la Piedra trail, breakfast and shower at hotel. Beach day at Los Frailes, Machalilla National Park. Lunch at Puerto López. Open afternoon for beach and pool enjoyment, surf, relaxing, music and dinner.

Day 4 – Jama

Early start, breakfast and shower at hotel and departure towards Jama. Visit the Agua Blanca communitary reserve, short hike. Check in and lunch at hotel. Short hike in the Lalo Loor Reserve, wildlife watching. Open evening for relaxing, and beach enjoyment+ dinner.

Day 5 – Los Bancos

Early start to run the Jama route, breakfast and shower at hotel and departure towards Los Bancos. Check in at hotel and lunch, Open afternoon for relaxing at the pool, hike to the river, bird watching, music + dinner.

Day 6 – Puembo

Early start to run the Rio Blanco route. Breakfast at hotel, relax by the pool and departure towards Quito. Lunch and visit the Quito Old Town. Check in at the hotel in Puembo + dinner.

Day 7 – Cayambe Coca Reserve – Papallacta

Early start to run El Chaquiñan, breakfast and shower at hotel. Natural medicine and massage session. Departure towards Cayambe Coca Reserve. Hike into the paramo towards Papallacta’s hot springs. Check in and lunch at hotel and open afternoon for hot springs, spa and activities + dinner. Celebrate!

Day 8 – Quito

Early start to hike the river trail, breakfast, hot springs and shower at hotel. Free afternoon and evening in Quito.

Day 9 – Quito

Possible city running tour. Transfer to airport. End of the tour.
